My husband and I bought a house recently that had a tether ball pole in the yard. We thought it would be fun to get a tether ball for the kids to play with but I wanted to make sure to find something really soft since they are 4, 3, and 1. This has been perfect! Easy for them to play with but it doesn't hurt them like other tetherballs would. I really like all the bright colors too, it makes it really fun. The only thing I didn't realize when ordering this is it doesn't come with the metal clip to hook it to the tether ball pole. We found one for about two dollars or so at Walmart so no biggie. I also didn't realize that it doesn't come pumped up but we had a pump so that was no problem really.

My son received this for Christmas in addition to a pole...he loves it, especially the colors. He keeps spinning it to see how the colors blend. It seems to be good quality and soft for school-age hands.

We bought this item for our Grandson's, ages 4 and 5. It is basically a standard hardness tetherball, with a thin rubberized coating. I blew it up to about 3 lbs of air pressure, and it IS HARD! There is no way this can be called a "Soft" Tetherball, and contrary to a previous review it would be very dangerous to allow very young children, especially boys, to bat bat this around a pole, at each others faces.
