So for my dad's birthday I decided to up the quality of our game a bit and replace the current plastic/water filled set we had with a new solid and heavier set. My family is by no means great or professional bocce players, but this set was a great addition at a great price. The balls are way heavier (at least triple the weight) than the previous set and are made of an indestructible resin plastic. On the beach they will last forever but I cannot vouch for those who play on asphalt or grass. Also they are about double in size compared to the cheap sets.... more of a softball size vs. baseball size. The blue carrying case is good quality but does get rather heavy if you are trekking it a good distance. The only fault that I find with this set is that you only get one jack (small white ball). I have played 10 games so far and the balls hold up well in the grass but we usually play in a pit of small rocks in a picnic area and the balls look like they've been chewed up by a dog. It wont degrade the gameplay at all but they just look like they've seen better days. I dont suggest using them in anything but sand, grass or dirt. It really is nice especially for the price. The balls are large and heavy like the more expensive set I've played with. In fact I can't tell the difference in them. I wouldn't buy this for smaller kids due to size and weight of balls but for adults it's great. I painted the jack ball flourescent orange to make it easier to see when playing in grass which is where we always play. I just wish it came that way but if that's the least of my problems then I give this set five stars. |
