We had a sturdy stool to climb up and down, but it still didn't feel as safe as it could be. I debated on buying this ladder and now wish I had spent the money months ago! It is extremely sturdy, the kids feel secure on it, and you can remove it in less than two seconds if you choose. It was easy to put together - just a screwdriver - but I caution you to look at the steps closely because there is a right way to put them on (which I discovered after I had assembled the entire ladder and saw that I had put on step #1 backwards). Our trampoline measures about 37.5" from the top of the rim and this ladder is the perfect length to give a nice slope to the climb up. Highly recommended! Before I purchased it I was going to buy a cheaper one, but after reading the trusty customer reviews, I realized that the steps on most trampoline ladders (like the one at Wal-mart) don't have flat wide steps. You experience quite a bit of pain using narrow round steps because you would be climbing up there bare foot (ouch!). When the ladder was mailed to me, I received the two step ladder instead. I called and they sent me the three step ladder and let me keep the old one for spare parts! I am a very satisfied customer!!
